Welcome Partner to Wrangler Ridge Ranch

We are a family cow calf operation located in Southern Saskatchewan. Owned and ranched by Kelly Kaufmann using the methods of the Old West... no motorized vehicles to scare the herd. The ranch is operated on about 2400 acres. Most of the ranch consists of Native grasses for the pastureland. The Ranch has been self-efficient in producing enough hay for the livestock. The whole Ranch is rolling native prairie hills. Many of the hills are rich in history as many are covered in tee-pee rings.

We are very proud of our herd of cattle. Our purebred Black Angus cattle are not treated any different from our commercial cattle. The purebreds have to be able to adapt to the conditions without pampering. Our focus is to breed cattle that are easy fleshing, fast gaining, and have quiet dispositions. We feel, as breeders, we must get back to the basic type of cattle and stay away from the extremes. With this in mind our purebred cattle carry a lot of Canadian bloodlines, with some of them being straight Canadian. Our main herd sire was Ron’s Baros 76G who carries an almost straight Canadian bloodline We sold 76G to Wes Gellies in 2007.. In 2007 we also used a similar type of bull with Hollbrook Rito 12J. Rito 12J is deceased . We have built our herd around this great bulls. Here at Wrangler Ridge Ranch the cattle must work for us or they won’t work for you!

Our walking herd sires Crowfoot 2720M, Section One Tradition 4S and WRR Baros of York 47S. Crowfoot 2720M is a Leachman Right Time son who we feel will give small birth weights plus performance. Section One Tradition 4S is a straight Canadian bull from a female we purchased from Section One. WRR Baros of York 47S is a grandson of Ron’s Baros 76G. Our operation consists of about 140 head of purebred and commercial cattle. We use horned hereford bulls and our own black angus bulls on our commercial herd.
