If you have never seen the planets and the band of light/stars of one of the spiral arms of our Milky Way Galaxy it is likely you have the issue of light trespass. The image to the left shows the same
location, first with exterior lights turned off (power outage in Ontario - Darksky.org) and then with a 'yard light' turned on.

I have not confirmed these facts yet. but this is what I have so far. One 1000 watt MH (car lot light) produces 1.8 tonnes of CO2 per year. and costs $300 a year to operate! this is assuming only 10 hours per day of usasge.
